Doug Keith

Anyone who knows me knows that one of my absolute favorite records that came out in 2011 is Little Scream’s album The Golden Record (in fact, I am listening to it while I type this). So it is with the absolute utmost pleasure that I tell you that I am going to be playing a few shows with them at the end of November on the east coast! I’ll be playing solo. It’s gonna rule.

Hi all,

I’ve been keeping (super) busy playing bass for Sharon Van Etten. We’ve been touring like crazy behind her absolutely flawless record epic and will keep doing so straight through 2011. You can see all dates HERE. Ben Lord (who played drums on my record and tours with me regularly) is also in the band. It’s a sweet family we’ve created. We did an awesome US tour with Junip in November, a short run in the US with Julianna Barwick, we’re heading to Europe with The National in February and then doing a full US tour (including SXSW) with Little Scream. I can highly recommend you pick up every record by all of these people. Awesome people making awesome music. You gotta love it.
I’ll be recording a new record of my own this year (I’ve been demoing like crazy) and will play some shows of my own as well this summer. Check back for updates and such. In the meantime, come see Sharon Van Etten (trust me, she is absolutely amazing) and say hi. Would love to see you.

I’m doing a couple of solo shows to finish out 2010. This Thursday, September 30th, I’ll be playing my first show in Kansas City in over 5 years. I can’t believe it has been that long since I’ve been back. The show is at The Uptown Theater with Jimmy Wayne. I’m doing a very short set at about 8 pm. The show is a private event so I can’t help with tickets and this was a last minute booking so none of the clubs were available to do a public show. If anyone knows of anything for Friday, October 1st, let me know, would love to play!

The other solo shows are a quick tour through Vermont in late October. I’m playing Montpelier, Middlebury & Burlington. After that I’m off on tour as part of Sharon Van Etten’s band for all of November (we’re opening 20 shows for Junip) and then working on a new record in December & January.

I went to Clint, Michigan’s  record release party last night at the Living Room. You can buy their record HERE. They sounded amazing. Clint couldn’t be a nicer guy and Ms. Amy Bezunartea’s voice melts my heart. She was kind enough to sing on “Here’s to Outliving Me” with me (you can hear her well on “Companion of an Angel” and a bunch of others). Their songs are really sweet and sound familiar, but are really original. Definitely worth your time.
You should check them and the record out soon.

Also, Larry Crone opened the show last night and that guy is amazing, too! I was blown away by him and his band. He played amazingly great songs on a ukelele (something I just played for the first time in Hawaii). You should check him out soon too.
